STG Consulting Enterprise was hosted by L D Moetanalo Secondary School on the 14th of March 2020 at their School’s premises. The purpose for this gathering was to have an RCL leaders training on what is the role of an RCL and what is expected of them as leaders.

We covered the following topics:
✓ Policies, Values, vision and principles of the school
✓ Duties and responsibilities of a leader
✓ Roles of Principal, SGB, teacher and RCL
✓ Importance of discipline and consistency
✓ A leader’s pledge

This session was attended by the Deputy Principal Mam Talane, the SGB chairperson Mrs Sithebe and STG team by the names of Marcus Masemola, Precious Sibiya, Sophia Mogola and Nonkululeko Shabangu.
The RCL learners are a very interesting team, easy to work with and eager to learn.

Observations:
In every presentation that was presented to the learners, we observed that the learners were not clear about what was required from them as RCL members. The following was what we observed:
1. RCL members where not clear about how long should assembly be and what time are they supposed to be in the first class period.
2. The correct colours of the school uniform
3. The RCL members don’t know the school vision and mission
4. Don’t have the knowledge of how to hold their own meetings
5. Don’t know how to discipline their fellow student when the teacher is not in class
6. Don’t know their duties and responsibilities in school and in class

STG team engaged with RCL in the importance of wearing proper school uniform and understanding the school vision and mission, we further shared with the RCL Leaders about their responsibility to further engaging all the learners on the school about the importance of knowing and understanding the vision and mission of the school.
The team in their presentation of the roles and responsibility of the RCL leader also emphasized the importance of knowing their responsibilities in the school and class room and also come up with ways and means to discipline their fellow leaners.
We further shared with the RCL Leaders about how to hold their meetings and further indicated that we shall come back and do a proper presentation where we share with them protocols to invite, facilitate and record their meetings

Recommendations by the STG Team to the School:
➢ A Further reminder of assembly time and the start of a class period
➢ The School together with RCL Leaders on a monthly basis remind all learners of the proper school uniform
➢ Workshop for the teachers and SGB members on the importance of team work
➢ Training for the RCL executive on how to hold their own meeting, eg

• how to draft an agenda and minutes
• How to write grievances
• How to discipline their fellow learner in terms of using the demerit system

A school environment is a place where that must be conducive so that education can happen effectively and professionally. It is important that all stakeholder who are assign to the school to work together as a collective in making sure that the vision and mission of the school is implemented
The Workshop was effective and the Leadership of the School assisted us greatly in making sure that this workshop is implemented.
